Ice Racer: Terry Wahl
Date of Birth: 01/08/72
Years driving:
"I have been racing the professional ice circuit for
roughly 10 years. I got my start on a 500 fan and in 1993
I hopped on the F1 and that was it."
How did your career begin:
"Racing is a family business and the jump into racing
was so easy. There was no question that this was the direction
I was going to take. The first time I jumped on the F1 I ran
against the infamous Jacques Villeneuve. He and I were the
only two sleds in the heat, but I held out to beat him. That
was a good first step!"
Most Memorable:
"My Most memorable experience has to be the Boswell Cup
in 1998. As a team, David and I won all four races. David
won one and I won the other three. Winning that cup was very
memorable and as a team. The money wasnt that bad either!
I must say though that the first time we got on the single
track champs - Very sweet. Sitting there, it just felt right!"
Least Memorable:
"The first year we ran the champs; we were racing in
Brainerd and David pulled off to go by traffic and I hit him.
Took us both out of the race and here we were lapping everyone.
I felt so awful - David never said anything. Of coarse he
was upset, but he didnt say anything".
Expectations:
"Nothing has changed, nothing different from before.
Goal is still the same- win."
Keys to Success:
"My old man is the key to my success. He beats me if
I dont! HA! No he doesn't - He really is the key for
me, i.e.: His brains and determination. Hes been doing
it along time and he knows what it takes."
Hobbies:
"Hunting, fishing
Guy stuff!"
