January 15, 2018 Greenbush, Minnesota – For 47 years, the Wahl Bros. Racing Team has had a #74 sled competing in ice oval racing. In the year 1971 at the age of 12, Dave Wahl raced the family’s 340cc single cylinder Arctic Cat. That was the beginning of a legacy that included many successful wins including three World Championship Titles. Dave retired in 2000 and thought he was also retiring his bib #74. Dave was always hesitant to let his son Dustin race but in the spring of 2000 at the age of 15 Dustin talked his dad into borrowing Andy Moyle’s Polaris XCF 440 sled to race a junior class at the last race of the season in Beausejour, MB. The rest is history!

In the fall of 2000, Dustin started racing his own Polaris XCF 440 sled for Wahl Bros. Racing. Dustin continued to work his way up the ranks throughout the next couple of years. Dustin racked up mrore than 100 wins throughout his career. In 2007, Dustin immediately found success in the Pro class. He was named Snow Week Racer of the Year, was the Millenium/V-Force and WSA points champ. Dustin has won the Grand Prix de Valcourt race 3 times. Dustin raced a Formula 1 (600) open sled winning the World Championship in 2007, 2008 & 2009. Dustin has qualified for the World Championship race 11 times.

Dustin has logged more time on the track than any other driver for Wahl Bros. Racing running multiple classes and sleds throughout his career. In the winter of 2017, Dustin suffered a serious concussion injury keeping him off the track for much of the season. On January 7, while competing in a heat race in Ironwood, MI, Dustin again found the bales and suffered a repeat concussion injury. After 18 years of competing Dustin has decided this is it. The Wahl Bros. Racing team fully supports Dustin’s decision and we are proud of how he wore the #74 for our team. He has represented our team and company well and we are looking forward to what is yet to come for Dustin and his role at Wahl Bros. Racing. Please join our family in wishing Dustin well and look for cousin Jordan to continue the season for Team Wahl!
